PEORIA, AZ (November 3, 2023) - In the early hours of Sunday, a tragic incident occurred on Loop 101, resulting in the loss of one life and injuries to two others due to a wrong-way collision. Authorities responded to the scene on the northbound lanes of the freeway at approximately 3:40 a.m., on October 29th.
According to initial reports, a truck was traveling in the wrong direction, heading south in the northbound lanes, and collided head-on with a tour bus carrying seven passengers. Upon arrival, medical personnel pronounced the truck driver deceased at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported two bus passengers to a nearby hospital for the treatment of severe injuries. One of the bus passengers was ejected from the vehicle, while five other occupants received on-site medical attention for minor injuries.
Emergency response teams temporarily closed the surrounding area to manage the situation, reopening the road just before 9:50 a.m. An ongoing investigation is in progress to uncover more information regarding the fatal accident. Additional details will be provided as they become available.
