3 Pet Companies that Really Give Back

Lots of animals need homes and help. We wanted to find the best pet related companies that actually provide back to the animals we all serve. All too often companies claim to give back treating it like PR instead of a priority. We compiled a list of 5 smaller companies that truly work to improve the lives of the furry ones who haven't found their human companions yet.

The list is below:

1. Cardboard Cat Homes

Cardboard Cat Homes sells eco-friendly and sustainability sourced cardboard cat houses. Makes sense, right?

width=1122Only 6 months old, Cardboard Cat Homes has exploded on the scene. With dozens of unique designs not found anywhere else and the ability to customize every item, cat moms and dads have taken notice and flocked to their site. They sell cat puzzles, cat carriers, a cat taj mahal, and even a pineapple (not a real one!).

More importantly, they do a great job of providing many of these houses to cats in need who have yet to find their own furever home. According to their official giveback program details, Cardboard Cat Homes gives at least one cat home per 5 that they sell. So roughly 20% of the total number of products made are going to cat rescues. They're currently working with more than two dozen shelters around the United States and have plans to expand into Europe.

That's pretty awesome!

Usually companies only give back a small percentage of profits and it's wonderful to see a new cat co make such an effort to put giving back as the focus of their mission. We spoke with Melanie Chhuan, the CEO of Cardboard Cat Homes. She said that she started her company because, It's awful seeing and feeling how many cats out there need help. I can only adopt or foster so many cats so I wanted to build a sustainable way to help thousands of cats. Cardboard in particular provides a way for cats to spread their scent which can make them feel comforted in crowded conditions. She added that with over 10,000 animal shelters housing cats in the United States, they have a long way to go.

2. Pack Leashes

Since 2016, Pack Leashes has been on a mission to donate as much dog food as possible to shelters full of hungry pups; specifically no-kill shelters. Based out of Denver, Colorado- Pack Leashes is proudly based in America and maintains a huge social following, especially on Instagram. Their community of 530k+ pet lovers is one focused on helping feed hungry shelter pups, one sale at a time. You can also join in on their community by signing up as an ambassador on their website, which gives you all sorts of perks!

You can get a full matching set for your pup, and even a scrunchie for yourself so that you get to match your pup too! With 2,000+ Five-Star reviews, Pack Leashes is definitely on our radar when it comes to companies with not only a great product, but a great social good campaign.

3. PetHonesty

Founded with the mission of making high quality pet supplements to treat a variety of conditions, PetHonesty lives up to its name. All of PetHonesty's soft chew supplements are manufactured in a huge FDA registered facility right here in the U.S.A. The facility follows all GMP guidelines and is SQF (Safe Quality Food) Level 3 certified and APHIS-approved for multiple countries.

This means PetHonesty follows the strictest safety and health standards. Their production facility is routinely inspected to ensure they're not cutting corners and that everything is up to human standards! Their SQF Level 3 is one of the most important certifications you can have and is the highest standard a production facility can obtain when it comes to making products for your pets.

With an increasing amount of goods being made overseas, Pet Honesty has chosen to keep manufacturing in the U.S.A to ensure the highest quality production, packaging, and final end product. They use premium US and globally-sourced ingredients to give your pet delicious products that pack a nutritional punch.

PetHonesty makes large contributions to Austin Pets Alive, a rescue shelter, and The Dog Alliance, a pet therapy nonprofit. They also have discount programs available to shelters, rescues, and service animals. They even have paid programs for their employees to take time off work to volunteer in the community (as long as it's pet related!).

As many animals in shelters suffer sickness more often than animals at home, having the extra supplements and health boosts ensures cats and dogs waiting in shelters can stay healthy in the meantime.

We also found that PetHonest keeps their giving back pretty much under the wraps. They don't brag about it, they just do it. We love that!

Overall, we found these 3 companies: Cardboard Cat Homes, Pack Leashes, and PetHonesty to be wonderful mission oriented pet companies. As the growth of valued oriented consumer brands continues, we look forward to seeing what other companies do to make the lives of our little loved ones a bit more wonderful.
