A 3rd Round Of Free At-Home COVID Tests Available For U.S. Households

The federal government has announced that a third round of free at-home COVID-19 tests are available for all U.S. households.

The tests can be accessed through the COVIDtests.gov website, or by calling (800) 232-0233.

"I want to note that the federal government announced just yesterday, folks could order a third round of tests," L.A. County Public Health Director, Dr. Barbara Ferrer said during the Tuesday County Board of Supervisors meeting.

A total of eight test kits will be mailed out for free via the United States Postal service, through two separate packages of four.

After providing your email and mailing address, confirmation numbers will be emailed for both packages with the option to receive delivery updates.

If a U.S. resident missed out on previous rounds of tests, they may place an additional order, for a total of 16 test kits.

Free At-Home Tests Through Insurance

U.S. residents may also get reimbursed for at-home tests through their insurances. With a receipt for the total price from retail stores, up to eight test kits per month, residents may reach out to their insurance carriers to be reimbursed for the purchase.

In L.A. County, there are also still dozens of free testing sites available for Angelenos, that can be found through the L.A. County COVID-19 website.

"While coexisting with the unpredictable virus does remain challenging," Dr. Ferrer said. "We do note that we are so lucky to live in a county where we have an abundant access to tools that offer us significant protection from this virus."
