A Lemon Grove On Top Of The Aster In August And Memorial Day Bites - Heres Whats Popping Up

Under the direction of chef and prolific author Sam Talbot, Lemon Grove restaurant will take over the expansive rooftop space of The Aster members' club and hotel in August, with a healthy California spin.

Talbot, whose book, The Sweet Life: Diabetes without Boundaries, was inspired by his Type 1 diabetes diagnosis, emphasizes clean eating and will have a kitchen free of any white sugar at Lemon Grove. Items on the seasonal menu include snapper crudo with lemon ponzu and crisp capers, as well as Beluga lentils alla vodka with goat cheese and roasted vegetables. Also expect pizza with truffled salami, Treviso pesto, and grass-fed mozzarella, and a Green Goddess salad with apples, kohlrabi and avocado.

Named after the citrus groves that once blanketed the rolling hills of the neighborhood, Lemon Grove is the latest addition to mushrooming Hollywood rooftop restaurant skyline, located six stories up, and will be open for brunch, lunch and dinner. The bar program of the 112-seat restaurant (almost equally split between indoor and outdoor dining in the 7,200-square-foot rooftop space) will be overseen by ?Chris Whelan. The outdoor space will be surrounded by lush landscaping and lemon trees, fire pit booths, and regular live music programming.

Talbot plans on running a sustainable kitchen by reducing food waste, using alternatives to plastics, and always sourcing local ingredients, and will partner with the Hollywood Food Coalition in an initiative to donate unused food and participate in various volunteering opportunities.
