Armando G Modales Jr. Dead after Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 80 [Richmond, CA]

Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision Near Cutting Boulevard Left Three Injured

RICHMOND, CA (October 24, 2023) - Early Sunday morning, Armando G Modales Jr. was fatally injured following a chain-reaction collision on Interstate 80.
CHP officers responded to the incident around 5:55 a.m. along the eastbound lanes of the freeway, near Cutting Boulevard.
Upon arrival, they discovered at least six vehicles in the wreckage. Investigators claimed that a green 2015 Mitsubishi box truck failed to stop while traveling at unsafe speeds under the roadway conditions.
As a result, the box truck collided with a Toyota Sienna and ended up causing a chain reaction involving several other vehicles.
Tragically, the Sienna driver, 47-year-old Armando G Modales Jr. from San Pablo, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Paramedics transported three other people to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the box truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
The Californian Highway Patrol does not suspect drugs and alcohol to be a factor in the collision. Those with additional information regarding the incident are encouraged to contact the Oakland CHP at 510-457-2875.
