Brandon Bencomo Arrested after Fatal DUI Collision on 10 Freeway [Los Angeles, CA]

25-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision near Santa Fe Avenue

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 20, 2023) - Thursday morning, Brandon Bencomo was in custody after a collision caused by driving under the influence on 10 Freeway.

Officers arrived at approximately 4:38 a.m., after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area. This took place in the eastbound lanes of the freeway, just east of Santa Fe Avenue.

According to reports, the driver of a 2022 Kia Stinger was traveling in the wrong direction, heading west on the eastbound lanes. This led to a devastating head-on collision with an oncoming Honda Fit. Medical personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the sole occupant of the Honda deceased.

As of now, authorities have identified the victim only as a 33-year-old man from Los Angeles. In the meantime, paramedics rushed a 5-year-old child and a 22-year-old woman who were inside the Kia to a hospital for further treatment. The driver of the Kia, 25-year-old Brandon Bencomo, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
