MODOC COUNTY, CA (November 7, 2023) - On Friday, Brian Boatman was transported by air, while a tragic incident claimed the life of a woman in a collision involving a tow truck on Highway 299. On November 3rd, at approximately 4:15 p.m., law enforcement arrived at the scene near Cedar Pass.
According to authorities, the driver of a westbound 2020 Chevrolet 6500 tow truck veered off the roadway and lost control while navigating a curve. This resulted in the Chevy entering the lanes for oncoming traffic, where it collided with a 2007 GMC Sierra.
The 70-year-old female operator of the GMC sustained fatal injuries and passed away at the scene, although her identity remains undisclosed to the public. Concurrently, medical responders transported the tow truck driver, 44-year-old Brian Boatman, by air to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Boatman suffered moderate injuries as a result of the accident. Following initial investigations, the California Highway Patrol determined that intoxication was not a contributing factor to the collision. Further details will be made available as they become accessible.
