In the universe of music production, several stars shine brightly, but few illuminate as vibrantly as Keith "Butta" Justice. Four-time Grammy nominee, Soul Train Award winner, and platinum selling music producer, Butta, as he is popularly known, has been carving a niche for himself in the music industry.
Raised on the rhythmic streets of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Butta began his journey in tandem with his high school friend Allen "Bizkit" Arthur. Together, they forged B & B Entertainment, LLC, a platform that has become a touchstone of remarkable tunes. Butta's hands have been instrumental in shaping the music of eminent stars such as John Legend, Miguel, Neyo, and Yo Gotti. One of his most distinguished works has been John Legend's #1 Billiard single, "Tonight (Best You Ever Had)", featuring Ludacris, a track that found its groove in the film, Think Like a Man.
For Butta, the melody never stops. His recent collaborations with Bizkit led to two of their songs being featured in the animated recreation of the latest Tom and Jerry movie. Besides that, Butta is a seasoned music director and keyboard player. He lights up the stage with his custom keytar when he performs with Bizkit and other artists, igniting the crowd with his musical prowess.
Butta's journey wasn't always a chart-topping hit. He had to master the rhythm of the business side of music, learning to negotiate his worth and trust his instincts. In the discord of the industry, his motto has been, "It's not enough just to make a good record." Through his experiences, he learned the art of creating the music he loves and protecting his rights and interests.
This four-time Grammy-nominated maestro holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a concentration in Arts Management - Music from Long Island University, CW Post Campus. His formal education echoes his commitment to music, reinforcing his belief that "You only have one life, so why not take the chance to create the life you want."
Following his own advice, Butta isn't confined to the studio alone. He spreads his talents into diverse ventures, including DJing, modeling, and acting. He and his wife, Toccara, recently featured alongside Micheal B. Jordan in a Coach commercial campaign.
Butta's music continues to evolve. Just this January, Blanco Brown released "I'll Never”, a Bizkit & Butta produced single that marks their first venture into the country genre. Like an artist sketching on an infinite canvas, Butta keeps adding vibrant hues to his palette, ensuring his art never ceases to surprise and enchant.
Looking ahead, he envisions receiving the Grammy for Producer of the Year with Bizkit and touring the world with his music. As someone who has been in the music industry for over a decade and still making an indelible impact, Butta seeks to "create awareness of the amazing music" he produces.
Whether you're tapping your feet to a beat on your playlist or swaying to a rhythm at a concert, there's a chance that Butta has spun the magical notes sweeping you away. And if you'd like to stay updated on Butta's extraordinary musical journey, follow his Instagram page.
