Celebrating Women In Film

Every day, Hollywood churns out movies that are filled with male characters. Rarely, in comparison, do we see films that focus on the stories of women. This is not because women’s stories aren’t interesting, but because the movie industry marginalizes female voices. Women are routinely denied opportunities to direct and screen write, which means their stories go unheard. As a result, the perspectives of men are overwhelmingly represented in films. We need to change this by supporting female filmmakers and giving them a voice in the industry. Only then will we be able to see more films that reflect the diverse experiences of women.
The good news is that audiences are taking notice, and some women manage to rise to the top.
