78-Year-Old Murrieta Man Dead in Solo-Vehicle Accident Near Grand Avenue
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (October 24, 2023) - On Saturday afternoon, a single-vehicle crash along Ortega Highway claimed the life of Charles Landreth. Officials received reports of the incident around 1:30 p.m. on Ortega Highway, 1.4 miles west of Grand Avenue. Based on the initial investigation, a biker riding a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50 lost control while going eastbound along the highway. Police said the rider entered a sweeping pathway to the left and failed to make the turn. Subsequently, the rider crashed into a metal guardrail on the south side of the road, ejecting him in the process. Responding emergency personnel declared 78-year-old Charles Landreth of Murrieta dead at the scene. At this time, the California Highway Patrol is working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
