Family Killed, Michael Dunn Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Guthrie

KING COUNTY, TX (October 26, 2023) - Saturday afternoon, Christian Trattles, Ashley Peppers, and their young son lost their lives in a two-vehicle accident on US Highway 82. The incident occurred about five miles to the west of Guthrie on September 30th, prompting a swift response from local police.

Reports indicate that a passenger vehicle traveling westward suddenly veered into the eastbound lanes. In the process, it collided with a truck towing a trailer. For reasons yet unknown, the car veered onto the "improved shoulder of the roadway," and its passenger-side tire came to rest on the grassy area beside the road.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) later identified the driver of the passenger car as 32-year-old Christian Trattles, along with his two passengers, 27-year-old Ashley Peppers and her 3-year-old son. All three individuals lost their lives at the scene.

In contrast, the 42-year-old truck driver, Michael Dunn, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to University Medical Center for treatment.

Preliminary investigations have not indicated adverse weather or road conditions as contributing factors to the collision. Notably, all the victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. As more information becomes available, additional details will be shared.
