Cosplayers Dance Magic Dance at the 20th Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball

For 20 years, Jareth the Goblin King has presided over his subjects during his annual eponymous masquerade ball. Combining historic and fantasy elements from across a wide spectrum of fandom ? including, of course, Jim Henson's 1986 film Labyrinth, starring David Bowie as Jareth ? Sypher Studios' Labyrinth of Jareth is one of those events you have to see to believe. Some participants (like local favorite Bobby Love, who wears six different costumes over the course of two evenings, Aug. 25-26) spend all year and lots of dough preparing for the two-night event. Multiple performance spaces, showcasing everything from bellydancers to bawdy jugglers, surround the large ballroom of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, where thousands dance the night away ? trapped under the spell of the?Labyrinth.
