81-Year-Old San Jose Man Killed in Auto Collision near Ridgewood Scale
WILLITS, CA (November 17, 2023) - Cynthia Peck was involved in a fatal two-vehicle accident that occurred on the northbound lanes of Highway 101, Saturday morning. Dispatchers responded to the scene at approximately 4:00 a.m., just north of Ridgewood Scale on November 11th. Officers say the driver of a 2015 Toyota Tacoma was heading north and suddenly veered into oncoming lanes before striking a nearby dirt embankment. The Toyota then came to rest on the southbound side of the freeway. Shortly after, the driver of an approaching 2016 Subaru Wagon attempted to avoid the stopped vehicle. The driver then struck the driver who had already exited the vehicle. Paramedics later declared the 81-year-old male Toyota driver, of San Jose dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity. Meanwhile, the female driver of the Subaru remained uninjured. Police later identified her as 38-year-old Cynthia Peck. In addition, investigators do not believe that intoxication played a role. An active investigation is still currently underway.
