In a normal week, an upcoming performance by England's Royal Ballet, the bold Canadian violinist Leila Josefowicz or American pianist Kirill Gerstein would merit an individual preview for each artist. But when those forces are joined with notorious British choreographer Wayne McGregor and the combined might of L.A. Philharmonic and conductor Thomas Adès, you end up with a potentially major cross-cultural event.

Billed as Adès & McGregor: A Dance Collaboration, Adès conducts his own music, including a new piece that features the Living Archive, an artificially intelligent system devised by McGregor for individual choreography that is able to respond to any new movement phrase by suggesting multiple original possibilities for the next phrase.
