ECTOR COUNTY, TX (October 24, 2023) - A tragic incident unfolded on Loop 338 near mile marker 226 Tuesday morning, resulting in the deaths of David Medrano, aged 44, and Maxton Steel Winkler, aged 33, in a head-on collision.
Officers say the accident occurred around 6:45 a.m., when David Medrano was driving a 2019 Ford F-250 northbound and crossed into the southbound lanes. His vehicle then collided with a 2021 Chevrolet 2500, driven by Maxton Steel Winkler.
Emergency medical personnel personnel pronounced both drivers dead at the scene. As a result of the collision, emergency response teams temporarily closed off the surrounding area to facilitate cleanup and perform preliminary duties.
