Once you're done with the final holiday parties of the season, the office drunkfests and family all-nighters, you're likely to be hungry again. Imagine. Just in time for the 2014 dineLA Restaurant Week. DineLA, as you'll doubtless remember from all that restaurant-hopping last time, is a 12-day extravaganza -- a week being a relative term -- in which local restaurants have special prix fixe lunch and dinner menus, many of them pretty sweet deals. This time around, the week is running Jan. 20-31 and will include more than 300 Los Angeles restaurants.
Presented by the Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board in partnership with American Express -- who first started doing this biannual event in January 2008 -- you don't need a pass or ticket (or an AmEx card), but making reservations is a very, very good idea. Just make reservations with the restaurant or with OpenTable. You can also check out the menus at the Discover Los Angeles website.
If you like eating out or want to check out some new places without completely blowing your budget, or maybe want to go on a restaurant crawl with your friends, this is a pretty good way to do it. The prix fixe menus run as low as $15 for lunch and $35 for dinner (not including drinks, tax or tip), which means that even if it turns out you don't like paella (really??), you won't have broken the bank.
Which restaurants participate? Well, a lot of them, including some pretty fantastic ones: Night + Market, FarmShop, Littlefork, Craft, Horse Thief BBQ, Lukshon, the Bazaar (now's your time to go stalk José Andrés on the cheap!), Willie Jane, Comme Ca, Waterloo & City, Lucques, Mo-Chica, Rivera, Sotto ... One could go on, but it would probably be a lot more fun to go look them up yourself.
