Gay Men's Chorus Reigns with Queen of the Night

width=195Freddie Mercury's soul-stirring vocals are one of a kind, but Queen of the Night from the Gay Men's Chorus of L.A. will surely capture their magic in a multi-faceted and powerful way, beyond even new renditions of Queen in concert. One hundred fifty voices comprising Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles? and friends will be heard for this epic tribute to Queen and Freddie, featuring more than a dozen classics from the band and iconic singer's solo material. Yes you will hear Bohemian Rhapsody, Somebody to Love, and We Will Rock You, but perhaps the real shining moments will come from lesser heard numbers as GMCLA brings heartfelt energy, diverse vocal tones and nuanced takes on the music. These songs not only stand as hook-filled pop hits but as anthems for freedom, self-expression and love (of every kind). The two-act show will also offer four dance numbers including a sure-to-be-vibrant take on I Want to Break Free, and operatic touches too.

Queen of the Night, Sat., April 2 at 8 p.m. and Sun., April 3 at 2 p.m., at Royce Hall, at UCLA, 10745 Dickson Ct, Westwood. Tickets and info at https://ucla.evenue.net.
