This was the best weekend at the box office in eight weeks. The movie Halloween Ends did very well, better than any other movie in 12 weeks. In addition, the total earnings for the weekend were 31% higher than last weekend and 39% above what was earned on average during the seven weekends before this one. Although still not much to write home about, box office sales are beginning to go up again. Here's the top 5 movies at the box office for the weekend of October 14 16:

1. Halloween Ends - $40.1M

What it's about:
It has been four years since Laurie last laid eyes on Michael Myers, the masked madman. Now living with her granddaughter and endeavoring to finish writing her memoir, Myers has seemingly disappeared without a trace. That is until a young man is accused of murdering a boy he was babysitting sets off as series of events which end only in bloodshed violence and death -?forcing Laurie to once again confront the malevolence she thought had ended four years ago.

What people are saying:
Uh, kind of... fascinating. Like, I think that this is actually a pretty good idea for the conclusion of this reboot trilogy though it quite literally posits the idea that a reboot is a traumatic generational response made by desperate people who have been pigeonholed into a single lane by an uncaring public but the execution is just... silly.

Dr. Rose Cotter sees a traumatic incident involving one of her patients. This makes her start seeing strange things that she can't explain. She must face her past in order to survive and escape the new reality that is scaring her.

What it's about:
The Primm family moves to New York City and their son Josh has trouble making friends. Then he finds Lyle, a crocodile who sings, in the attic of his new home. Their neighbor Mr. Grumps is mean and wants to get rid of Lyle. The Primm family must help Lyle so he can stay with them and keep singing.

What people are saying:
This movie is the first movie to make crocodillion dollars. It's just as good as Morbius. Lyle is a Sony legend. He is super fit. He is neither Venom nor Morbius. I love the part where Lyle says it's crocin' time. #LyleSweep

The Kingdom of Dahomey was one of the most powerful African states in 18th and 19th centuries. This historical epic is inspired by true events that took place there, brought to life with incredible detail.

For those of you who have yet to experience the phenomenon, the process of watching a film and realizing that it truly is just bad, let me tell you...it sucks.

I wanted so badly to like this movie because...I mean LOOK at this cast! To their credit, I believe they do with it what they can, but this script...oh my. David O. Russell, I'll admit, I have yet to watch any of your previous work, but with all due respect, what're you doing here??
