Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) culture, birthed from a profound historical context, is a unique medical system. From the legend of "Shennong tasting a hundred herbs" to its current status as a globally recognized medical tradition, it has weathered countless storms yet remains unyielding. Time may pass silently, but the imprints of history are everlasting. The essence of TCM, passed down from generation to generation, becomes increasingly distinct. Behind it lies the support of devoted practitioners who selflessly serve with compassion and skill. However, the enduring and ever-renewing nature of TCM is not solely reliant on the perseverance of its practitioners, but also on the collective guardianship and legacy of the entire society. Let us together step into the grand hall of TCM and explore its boundless allure.
Dr. Yan Bo of Shenzhen Yuan Shang Liu Jing Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic is an outstanding representative within the traditional Chinese medicine culture. Having the privilege to communicate with him face-to-face allowed me to deeply appreciate his profound medical expertise. Dr. Yan Bo graduated from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. After completing his studies, he chose to practice in the thriving city of Shenzhen and continued his education in TCM under renowned mentors. In his medical practice, he uniquely integrates ancient and modern treatment philosophies and pioneered the use of 'thunder fire cupping' to treat ascites caused by liver diseases. This significantly alleviates the pain of patients in the advanced stages of liver diseases or tumors, dramatically improving their quality of life. This revolutionary method has become a beacon of hope for patients with liver diseases and tumors. This unique treatment has also been recognized by the Intangible Cultural Heritage initiative and has been widely adopted in cities like Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong.
Mr. Yan Bo fully understands that the inheritance of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) doesn't happen overnight. He advocates not for self-contentment but for the widespread dissemination of knowledge. As a result, he not only selflessly teaches the 'thunder fire cupping' technique but has also been invited multiple times to serve as a guest professor for government official institutions.
Besides his passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mr. Yan Bo is also dedicated to philanthropic causes. He has used 'thunder fire cupping' to address menstrual pain issues for many women and founded a non-profit Youth Vision Care Center, utilizing TCM Tuina techniques to treat myopia in adolescents, achieving remarkable results.
Dr. Yan Bo hopes to introduce 'thunder fire cupping' and TCM Tuina techniques to the United States. By training more TCM practitioners there, he aims to promote their use, alleviate the pain of ascites in late-stage cancer patients in the US, enhance their quality of life, and potentially increase the survival rate of cancer treatments.
In the interview with Dr. Yan Bo, he firmly stated, 'We must promote and uphold the most traditional theories and methods of Chinese medicine. Only in this way can people reduce the torment of illness and serious economic losses!
