38-Year-Old Driver Died, Two Hospitalized after Deadly Vehicle Collision

INDEX, WA (October 19, 2023) - On Tuesday evening, police responded to a crash that claimed the life of Jason Wagner.
The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m., October 17th, in the area of US 2 near milepost 36.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision involved a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer driven by 38-year-old Jason Wagner with a 31-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman passenger.
Upon investigation, the officers learned that Wagner was headed westbound when he drove off the road and slammed into a tree.
Furthermore, the incident resulted in all occupants being trapped inside the Chevy. Authorities immediately extricated the passengers out of the vehicle and transported them to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for treatment.
Moreover, Wagner did not survive his injuries. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the authorities blocked the intersection for several hours before it was reopened on Wednesday at 4:00 a.m.
