Jesus Valdez Arrested after Stolen-Vehicle Collision on Highway 4 [Orinda, CA]

35-Year-Old Man Arrested after Head-On Accident near Bailey Road

ORINDA, CA (October 20, 2023) - Jesus Valdez was arrested Wednesday night after a stolen-vehicle accident on Highway 4.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers arrived to the scene near Bailey Road after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.

Police attempted to pull over a suspect when the driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed. During the pursuit, the driver then exited the vehicle before trying to flee on Acalanes Road. Shortly after, the suspect then got back into the stolen car before heading the wrong way on the eastbound side of the freeway. The vehicle then struck another car head-on before coming to a stop.

Paramedics took the suspect and the other driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment of significant injuries.

Authorities later identified the suspect as 35-year-old Jesus Valdez, of Oakland. Valdez is facing multiple charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless evading, and a drug trafficking warrant from another county.
