CARLSBAD, CA (December 19, 2023) - Police arrested Joshua Paul Weber Tuesday afternoon following a hit-and-run crash on Chestnut Avenue.
Police responded to reports of the collision around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Chestnut Avenue and Highland Drive.
Upon arrival, the officers learned that a southbound vehicle on Highland Drive hit the pedestrian crossing in an unmarked crosswalk.
Following the collision, the driver exited his vehicle and moved the victim off the roadway and onto the sidewalk. The suspect then fled the scene before the authorities arrived.
Responding units from the Carlsbad Fire Department transported the 15-year-old girl to a hospital for significant injuries.
Later, the Carlsbad Police Department managed to identify and arrest 42-year-old Joshua Paul Weber of Winchester. Officials booked Weber into the San Diego County Jail for felony hit-and-run.
Additionally, a portion of the road was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
