Kiya Winder and 4 Others Injured in Rollover Accident on Northwest Avenue [Bellingham, WA]

Five Hospitalized after Rollover Accident near Interstate 5

BELLINGHAM, WA (November 1, 2023) - Kiya Winder died Sunday morning while four others sustained injuries in a rollover collision on Northwest Avenue. Authorities responded to the scene just before 1:00 a.m., near Interstate 5 on October 29th.
Police officers say a northbound pickup-truck veered off the road before slamming into a concrete barrier near Northwest Avenue. Upon impact, the pickup-truck overturned, injuring five of its occupants.
Medical personnel transported the driver, 18-year-old Winter and four others to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. Investigators later said most of the occupants were not wearing seat belts. Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it later reopened just before 6:00 a.m.
Following preliminary duties, police believe that alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the collision. Although, an active investigation is still currently underway.
