Regular grade gas prices reached a record-high in L.A. County Thursday, with the average increasing to $4.822 per gallon.

According to the American Automobile Association (AAA) the average price increased again, for the 21st time in the 24 days elapsed of February.

Neighboring Orange County also recorded a record high of $4.802 per gallon for regular grade gas. Its previous high came Wednesday at $4.777 per gallon.

California also recorded another record high with the state averaging a price of $4.771 per gallon, a 2 cent increase over Wednesdays previous high.

While the national average has increased by more than 20 cents per gallon, the U.S. has not seen the record highs it saw in 2008. The overall U.S. average price is currently $3.543 per gallon, with the national record being recorded on July 17, 2008 at $4.114 per gallon.

President Joe Biden addressed the rising cost of gas while speaking on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Thursday, saying he hopes gas companies do not exploit this moment.

My administration is using the tools, every tool at its disposal to protect american families and businesses from rising prices at the gas pump, Biden said while addressing the nation on Thursday. We're taking active steps to bring down the cost and american oil and gas companies should not exploit this moment to hike their prices, to raise profits. I know this is hard and that americans are already hurting. I will do everything in my power to limit the pain the american people are feeling at the gas pump.
