Former LA Weekly event partner Antonio Pelayo Productions is charging back into the spotlight with his 7th Annual LA Bulla event this weekend, and if you love Mexican wrestling you don't want to miss it. Pelayo and the Weekly partnered during our last Tacolandia event in 2019. Before and since then, he's thrown a diverse assortment of events focused on art, music, fashion and more.
This year's Lucha Libre focused gathering should offer lots of thrills, with live wrestling as the main event. The celebration will also include music from Quita Penas, Undisputed World Champions, Faces and DJs Javie & Hefty, DJ ChrisRox and DJ Alex Escalon. The La Bulla art exhibit is always a highpoint at these parties, showcasing over 100 local artists interpreting the lucha aesthetic and Solar themed pieces Pelayo and co-curator Johnny KMNDZ Rodriguez had designed just for the show.
Live music, live lucha libre & art has become a big part of the tradition at La Bulla and over the years I've been proud to feature an eclectic line-up of extremely talented musicians from various musical genres, Pelayo says in press materials. This year for the 7th Anniversary of La Bulla, I'm excited to present another awesome line-up of entertainment? It's an incredible feeling to be able to provide a platform that showcases the talents of so many amazing artists and musicians.
Food, drinks, a car show, screenings, and a fashion presentation by Elvira Zamora, (read our piece about her work here) round out the festivities. At Plaza de la Raza, 3540 N Mission Rd.; Sat., Aug. 20, 7 p.m.- 1 a.m. Ticket and info at www.labulla.eventbrite.com.
