We shouldn't need events like LATINAFest, but we do, now more than ever. Pay equity for all women is still far from reach, and for women of color it's even more of a distant dream. Add to this sad fact, the reduction of women's rights to our own bodies and these kinds of gatherings are essential. We had the honor of being a spotlight speaker at this event a few years ago, and it was inspiring to say the least. Spotlighting National Women's Business Week, this year's event considers how the Mind, Body & Soul? of Latina entrepreneurs can contribute to a more enriching culture, in particular within the business sector. From new startups to those who have scaled their business and are creating a pathway for Latinas, the one-day festival, gathers Latina entrepreneurs, thinkers, activists, artists, supporters and over 100 small businesses as vendors. Beauty, wellness, food, and kid's stuff will have a presence and products to buy. There will also be a Goddess? procession and fashion show, spoken word, readings, yoga, and Women Empowerment Panel, and a taped episode of TheTRENDTalk Show hosted by the fest's creators. At LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, 501 N Main St.; Saturday, Oct. 22, 9:30 a.m. culturela.org/event/latinafest-mind-body-soul-2022/
