Levain Bakery Lands In LA and Rosé Day Los Angeles - Here’s What’s Popping Up

The  popular New York-based Levain Bakery  opens in Larchmont Village on Saturday, June 24 and to celebrate, the first 100 people in line at 8 a.m. will receive a  Levain Bakery Larchmont Village tote with bakery swag. Throughout opening day, there will be balloon twisting and face painting. Proceeds from the grand opening  will be donated to Alexandria House,  a transitional home for women and children located in Wilshire Center.

Rosé Day Los Angeles takes place on Saturday, June 24 at a  new location,  King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas, with  first-time headlining music act Guy Gerber, a Rosé Beer Garden and Frozé Zone. Champagne, wine and spirits include Perrier-Jouët, G.H. Mumm et Cie, Château Sainte Marguerite, Rumor, La Fête du Rosé, Absolut Elyx, and Código 1530 Tequila as well as celebrity brands, like  Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston’s Dos Hombres Mezcal, Brody Jenner’s Mamitas, and JOYO from Jay Shetty. Gourmet food trucks, selected by Iron Chef Marc Forgione, will feature his signature dishes, and he will also be preparing a special rosé-inspired menu. Go Little Tokyo, Little Tokyo Community Council's community-based small business marketing initiative, is back on Saturday, June 24 with new and returning favorite taste experiences and workshops  There will be a  walking and tasting tour led by Bill Watanabe, Steve Nagano, and Mike Okamura of the Little Tokyo Historical Society  highlighting the history of some of Little Tokyo’s longest standing small businesses and culinary favorites such as imagawayaki and shabu shabu and a lesson on the  birthplace of the fortune cookie and  first ramen noodle shop in the United States. Here’s the schedule:

J-Town Tasting Tour | 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. | $70 per person

Enjoy a self-guided walking tour of Little Tokyo and pick up a menu of savory favorites from five eateries including a  strawberry chocolate manju from legacy confectionery, Fugetsu-Do which is celebrating 120 years in Little Tokyo. Tickets also come with a limited edition tote bag, enamel pin, and a special item from Rafu Bussan, which is celebrating 65 years as one of the oldest retail shops in the neighborhood.

Tasty Time Hop | 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. | $60 per person

Journey through time on this self-guided walking tour of Little Tokyo featuring two neighborhood community pillars and three legacy businesses including Mitsuru Cafe which has been a community staple for 55 years. 

Emoji Workshop | 10 p.m. - 12 p.m. & 1-3 p.m. | $30 per person

Decorate your very own Emoji-Pan (chocolate and custard filled sweet bun) at Okayama Kobo. Okayama Kobo Bakery and Cafe bakes fresh from scratch daily using additive/preservative-free dough, and 100 percent Hokkaido flour.

Tinned Fish Happy Hour at Botanica kicks off today, Thursday, June 22, between  lunch and dinner services. Expect a menu of tasty  tinned fish from local favorites Siesta Co and Fishwife, plus conservas made in-house at Botanica, and a special menu of summery, fish-friendly cocktails like sherry and vermouth. There’s sardines, mackerel and white tuna in olive oil, mussels in pickled oil, chili crisp salmon and hot smoked trout just for starters. No reservations needed, walk-ins welcome.
