It's clear that Sorry It’s Over, a pop and alternative concept band formed by Louis Petrella, has been making waves in the music scene with their original sound and songwriting. The band's fusion of classic and modern rock, influenced by Louis' SoCal background, has helped them garner a growing fan base and significant streaming numbers on platforms like Spotify.
Louis' journey from his early exposure to music through his sister's Green Day records to becoming a music major and honing his skills in recording and producing, showcases his dedication to his craft. Louis says, “For me, music has been something I have loved all my life, and have some early memories sitting on my dad’s lap so I could play the drums or banging on the guitar ,but the first thing that really turned me on to play music was when I stole my older sister’s Green Day album American Idiot. After that, I was addicted to learn every single Green Day song ever written, and that inspired me to write my own songs. After high school, I started learning more about electronic music and got into just producing and DJing before I got the urge to want to play music live with a band again. Without having a band at the time, I started getting really inspired by artists like Mac Demarco, Tame Impala, Paul McCartney, and Dave Grohl, just to name a few, that it was possible to make rock music all by yourself."
The fact that Sorry It’s Over attracted the attention of Geza X, a renowned punk rock producer known for his work with iconic LA punk bands, Black Flagg, Dead Kennedys & The Germs , and most famous for the hit single”Bitch” by Meredith Brooks, speaks to the band's potential and unique artistic direction.
Although their partnership with Geza X Records came to an end in 2022, Sorry It’s Over is now aligned with Warren Wyatt & World Sound Records and distributed through In Grooves.The band's repertoire, which includes a 3-song EP and several singles, with more on the way, demonstrates their dedication to consistently producing new content. The anticipation for their upcoming full album release in October 2023 shows their commitment to further establishing themselves as a force in the music industry.
What sets SIO music apart is Louis’ ability to play every instrument on a song and produce/mix by himself. “If I had to pick a song that I am most proud of it would probably be either “Time Moves Slow” or my new one,” Feel Like It’s the 60’s.” I think they are my favorite because I just have the best memories of writing and recording them. They both just came together pretty quickly and are ones that I don’t mind playing hundreds of times,” says Louis.
