12-Year-Old Girl Hospitalized after Pedestrian Collision on McFadden Avenue

SANTA ANA, CA (October 20, 2023) - Wednesday night, Madeline Ortiz was apprehended in connection with a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Newhope Street.












The incident transpired at approximately 8:10 a.m. in the vicinity of McFadden Avenue and Fitz Intermediate Language Academy.

 

According to reports, a vehicle operated by the suspect struck a 12-year-old girl who was outside a designated crosswalk. Following the collision, the driver left the scene without providing assistance or reporting the incident to the authorities.

 

First responders transported the injured young girl to a hospital, where she remained in critical condition. Simultaneously, law enforcement located the suspect's vehicle with the assistance of a doorbell camera image.

 

Consequently, 18-year-old Madeline Ortiz was apprehended at her residence in Santa Ana and charged with suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
