FRESNO COUNTY, CA (October 10, 2023) - Wednesday evening, a head-on collision occurred on Highway 168, resulting in the fatality of one individual.
At approximately 10:10 p.m., emergency responders rushed to the scene just east of East Shepherd Avenue.
According to investigators, 32-year-old male driver of a Tesla Model Y was traveling east when he lost control of his vehicle. Consequently, the Tesla crossed into the westbound lanes before colliding head-on with a pickup truck.
Upon impact, the Tesla burst into flames, and due to the severity of the injuries sustained, the driver of the Tesla was pronounced dead by medics at the scene.
In the meantime, the driver of the pickup truck was transported to a hospital by emergency personnel. While the injuries were significant, they were fortunately not life-threatening.
Currently, Fresno County authorities are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine if intoxication played a role in the accident. Further information regarding the Highway 168 head-on collision will be provided once available.
