LA SALLE COUNTY, TX (October 12, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, an accident claimed the lives of Maria de Lourdes Rincon and Maximiliano Ortiz. The incident took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. on September 26th, on the northbound lanes of Interstate 35, just north of Encinal and near Mile Marker 41.
According to reports, the driver of a 2020 Freightliner tractor trailer had slowed down in a construction zone with heavy traffic. There, a 2016 Ford F-150 behind it was unable to adjust its speed and collided with the tractor trailer from the rear. The impact caused the F-150 to overturn on the road.
Medical personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced both 40-year-old Rincon and 15-year-old Ortiz deceased. On the other hand, the other passenger was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Fortunately, both the driver and passenger of the tractor trailer emerged from the accident without injuries.
Emergency response teams temporarily closed the surrounding area to facilitate cleanup and preliminary procedures. Further details will be made available as soon as they are released.
