MALIBU, CA (October 19, 2023) - Tuesday night, a pedestrian collision claimed the lives of Niamh Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir, and Deslyn Williams.
Around 8:30 p.m., emergency responders rushed to the 21500 block of PCH near La Costa Beach in response to the incident.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of a black BMW, traveling west on the highway, lost control under circumstances yet to be determined. This led to the vehicle colliding with at least three parked cars before tragically striking a group of women who were standing by the roadside.
All four women were declared deceased at the scene by responding emergency personnel. The victims have been identified as 20-year-old Niamh Rolston, 21-year-old Peyton Stewart, 21-year-old Asha Weir, and 21-year-old Deslyn Williams, according to Pepperdine University.
Meanwhile, law enforcement took 22-year-old Fraser Bohm, the driver of the BMW, into custody on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
Authorities have ruled out alcohol or drugs as contributing factors to the collision. Due to the ongoing investigation and cleanup efforts, the California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert in both directions of Pacific Coast Highway.
