Nostalgix gets Nasty and Declares War: Iranian-born, L.A.-based producer Nostalgix started DJing in 2015 -- the fact that she's been in there game for eight years surprises even her.

"Absolutely insane," she says. "I started DJing for fun in my dorm room in University. I had fallen in love with dance music and wanted to learn more about it. I would spend hours alone in my dorm room practicing, and making mixes. In 2017, I won a DJ competition to perform on the main stage at the Gorge Amphitheater, which was the coolest opportunity in the world for me. It was my first music festival - I was opening the stage and Tiesto was closing it. The festival wasn't able to open doors during my set so I basically performed to the security guards. I had the most incredible time dancing around on that massive stage, and it made me realize that it's all possible. I walked off that stage knowing I wanted to give music a real shot. I wanted to become an incredible producer and have fans that would be excited to see me play *THAT* song. I went all in after that."

The artist describes her sound as high energy, dramatic and powerful.

"I love records that make you feel like you can take over the world," Nostalgix says. "I think a big thing that drew me to dance music is the drama in performances and how big the sounds are. I always carry influences of what I love into what I create. Power. Power. Power."

Nostalgix believes that electronic music is thriving right now. "There are endless possibilities of what you can do and what you can create as a dance music producer," she says. "I think the scene is in a very cool place where there is a lot of room for growth. And you see artists that are very unique paving the path and absolutely crushing. Something really cool I’ve observed is that all of the artists I knew that were HUSTLING all throughout covid to create music and push boundaries are getting proper recognition for their art."

Her latest release is "WAR," a collaboration with Sugar Trap queen Rico Nasty.

"'WAR' is the official bad b*tch anthem," she says. "To me 'WAR' embodies the energy that you can do whatever you want - no one can stop you. You gonna take over the world. I had been working on the instrumental for 'WAR' over the past 5 months while being on tour. I spent an insane amount of time getting the sound and vision right. A couple of months ago I got into the studio with Rico Nasty and we recorded the vocals for the record. The writing and recording of the vocals came together really quickly, the concept and lyrics immediately hit. I continued building out the record after that and ended up changing a lot of the production to get it to what it is today. I'm sooo happy with how it all came together!"

Looking ahead, Nostalgix has plenty planned for the remainder of the year.

"The rest of 2023 is going to be crazy for me," she says. "Expect a lot of exciting news! I’ve been working on a lot of music, new visuals, new Hot Girls Love House Music merch, and I may or may not be working on a tour…. So there’s A LOT going on and A LOT that I’m excited for. The rest of the year is gonna be crazy. 2024 is gonna be even crazier. Get ready Gix Nation!"
