It's been hot out there but it's even hotter inside, especially if you don't have A.C. at home. So KCRW's Summer Nights couldn't be more perfectly timed. The station's seasonal event program has just gotten underway and everything's free, all-ages and outdoors.

Last week, we checked out one of the opening events at the Hammer (dub DJ Pachyman, pictured) and we hear the Chinatown party last weekend was all lit up in more ways than one. (We do miss the original Chinatown Summer Nights gatherings with music curated by Buzzbands.LA on the LA Weekly stage, but we're glad to see KCRW carry the torch there, regardless.)

There's still plenty more to do the next few weeks too, with DJs and live performances back at the Hammer and Chinatown's courtyard, plus events at California African American Museum, Grand Performances, Descanso Gardens, Bowers Museum, One Colorado, The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA and the Japanese-American National Museum. Full schedule below. Many of the events offer an opportunity to check out museum exhibits, shop, eat, drink, and take advantage of photo ops. Have yourself a blast because, you know, it happens so fast.
