Fans attending this weekend's MLS Cup match between LAFC and the Philadelphia Union, will have to do so without the luxury of parking.
Exposition Park, which usually has parking available for LAFC matches at Banc of California Stadium, will instead have the parking lot reserved for the USC football game at the neighboring Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Saturday.
"A comprehensive parking and transportation plan is in place for the 2022 MLS Cup on Saturday, November 5 at 1 p.m. at Banc of California Stadium," LAFC said in a press release Tuesday. "Due to a USC football game at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum on November 5, alternative parking and transportation measures will be in place and enforced."
LAFC is instead encouraging MLS fans to use L.A. Metro resources, most notably a park-and-ride shuttle from the Dodger Stadium parking lot about six miles away from the soccer stadium.
Attending fans are also being encouraged to use the Metro Transitapp or Metro Trip Planner website, where they can find Metro lines, or busses coming from multiple locations.
Rideshare apps are also an option for those who opt to forego the local public transportation options.
In an attempt to avoid congestion closer to the 1 p.m. start time, Banc of California Stadium is encouraging fans to arrive in the morning and take advantage of half-priced food and drink options between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
"We're excited to help everyone get to the big match," L.A. Metro tweeted Wednesday. "Echoing LAFC beat the rush and GO EARLY!"
In February, SoFi Stadium also closed its parking lot to the general public for the Super Bowl, teaming with L.A. Metro for alternative transportation options.
“We’re really encouraging people to take public transportation, because I don’t care what city you’re in, at a Super Bowl, there’s going to be traffic. It’s not a Los Angeles thing, it’s just going to happen,” Kathryn Schloessman, president of the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission, told L.A. Weekly before the Super Bowl in Febrary.

LAFC will be hosting its first MLS Cup match, reaching the final match in fewer than 10 years of existence. They will try to bring the cup home behind a high-powered offense led by captain Carlos Vela, who has been with the team since 2018.
