FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA (October 10, 2023) - Tuesday afternoon, a pedestrian collision on Brookhurst Street resulted in the loss of one man's life.
Shortly after 1:45 p.m., emergency responders arrived at the location near Edinger Avenue following several dispatch calls.
Police say the driver of a white Chevrolet bus heading southbound had come to a stop at the intersection for a red traffic light. When the light changed to green, the bus driver proceeded southbound and hit a pedestrian who was walking in the crosswalk along Edinger Avenue.
Upon arrival, first responders pronounced the 57-year-old male pedestrian from Santa Ana deceased at the scene. The identity of the victim will be released by the Orange County coroner's office once it becomes available.
During the initial response, the 62-year-old male bus driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the ongoing investigation.
