Thanksgiving Off-Road Crash in San Diego Left Scripps Ranch Grandfather Dead

SAN DIEGO, CA (December 5, 2023) - A Scripps Ranch family is grieving following a Dune Buggy Accident that claimed the life of 53-year-old Rob Mallory.

The deadly occurrence took place on the afternoon of Thanksgiving day at Ocotillo Wells State Park.

As outlined in the report, Rob, accompanied by several family members on a dune buggy, opted to pay a visit to a memorial plaque dedicated to Rob's brother.

After approximately 15 minutes, while navigating the main trail, the group was involved in a collision with another dune buggy that emerged from a feeder trail.

Responding emergency personnel airlifted Rib to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Additionally, Rob’s wife Misty Mallory, his son, and his girlfriend were hurt in the incident. The driver of the other dune buggy sustained serious injuries from the crash.

At this time, a GoFundMe page was created to aid the family with medical and funeral expenses.
