58-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Crash near Edom

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX (October 12, 2023) – Saturday afternoon, Roy Lewis Woods lost his life in a motorcycle accident on FM 279.

The incident unfolded at approximately 4:32 p.m., about three miles to the west of Edom on September 23rd. According to reports, the rider of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling in the westbound direction, while a Ford F-150 was approaching from the east.

In a sharp curve, the motorcycle rider failed to reduce speed, resulting in a collision with the Ford.

Emergency response teams arrived at the scene and sadly, declared Mr. Woods, aged 58, deceased.

Preliminary investigations suggest that drugs or alcohol were not contributing factors to the accident. Nevertheless, an active investigation is presently ongoing to uncover further details.
