Seffo’s tough, hardened hip-hop sound makes him a unique artist with extraordinary gifts. His debut single ‘Rebirth’ will secure him a sizeable fanbase.

Rapper Seffo has announced the release of his new single, ‘Rebirth,’ as he marks his transformation as an artist.

Seffo - born Youssef Kobach - is a 22-year-old musician who has made modest waves on the US rap scene.

Born in South Carolina, Youssef moved to Syria at a young age due to family circumstances. Raised by his grandmother in the city of Jableh, he faced violence, bullying, and other difficulties from a young age as he struggled to adapt to a constantly changing lifestyle.

Youssef’s first language was Arabic, and he admits that when he returned to the US after eight years spent in the Middle East, he initially struggled to learn English.

But where the American education system failed, music succeeded. Youssef says that rap artists like Eminem, Lil Wayne, B.O.B, Kanye West, Nikki Minaj, Biggie, and Nas helped him access and learn how to wield the English language. Rap music also enabled him to articulate his pride in his identity - and overcome the bullying he faced due to his ethnicity and religion.

Having made music since age ten, Youssef eventually released his first album, The Renaissance LP, under the name ‘YoYo.’ Despite showing an unmistakable flare for rhythm, lyrics, and rap flow, he admits that he lacked confidence in his craft and feared judgment from his community over what he’d created.

In the years that followed, he decided to rebrand himself. He wanted to be more authentic in his sound and more accepting of his unique identity. With this in mind, he wrote his new single, ‘Rebirth, ' to mark the moment he decided to turn over a new leaf in his life and music career. The song is about the ‘rebirth’ of his character and his evolution as an artist.

The lyrics of ‘Rebirth’ shine through like rough but beautiful burning coals. The overall message is about how fresh starts aren’t easy to make and even harder to commit to - but we shouldn’t be afraid to change ourselves anyway. The artist documents the day-to-day pain and anxiety he has encountered in his life, intending to get past all this and get to the other side. He clarifies that rebirths “hurt” - but this hurt is necessary so that individuals can change for the better.

It’s an instructive message and one that will resonate with a lot of people out there. Seffo has the clear-sighted, hardened voice of someone who has fought with self-doubt time after time - but now wants to share their newfound confidence and wisdom with anyone who will listen.

The artist plans to rework, recreate, and re-release his debut album, The Renaissance LP, shortly. So, fans expect to hear a lot more from him very soon.
