A group of asylum seekers arrived at L.A. Union Station July 1, on a bus from Brownsville, Texas.

This is the second bus carrying migrants from Texas to Los Angeles, with the first coming June 14 at the order of Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Abbott did not take formal credit for this busload as he did the first time, and Zach Seidl, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles mayor's office said the city was not given notice that the bus was headed to the city.

"Though we were not formally notified, the Mayor’s Office became aware of the bus yesterday and mobilized -- working with City Departments, the County, and a coalition of nonprofit organizations, in addition to our faith partners, to execute a plan set in place earlier this year," Seidl said. "The City of Los Angeles believes in treating everyone with respect and dignity and will do so."

The asylum-seeking migrants were taken to St. Anthony's Croatian Catholic Church in Chinatown, as was the first group in June, with volunteers helping to connect them with family in the U.S.

After the June bus arrived in L.A., Gov. Abbott vowed to continue sending migrants to sanctuary cities in the U.S.

“Los Angeles is a major city that migrants seek to go to, particularly now that its city leaders approved its self- declared sanctuary city status, Abbott said in a June 14 statement.

More than 40 migrants were on the most recent busload, with 11 being children.
