Halloween Food Fest

The inaugural Halloween Food Festival (presented by the KTOWN Night Market and Councilman Herb Wesson's office) will mean that part of Koreatown will be closed off for food vendors, pop-up stores, carnival games and more. Who's coming? Eight Korean BBQ, Ramen Burger, IOTA Brew Caf?, Shin-Sen-Gumi, Swirl Potato, Mama Musubi and more. Seoul Sausage will curate the food-truck lineup.

WHAT: Halloween Food Fest

WHEN: Saturday, Oct. 25 and Sunday, Oct. 26. (The street will be closed from 7 p.m. on Friday night until early Monday morning.)

WHERE: Sixth Street between Normandie Avenue and Vermont Avenue in Koreatown.

COST: Entry ticketsare $3 before the event, $5 on the day.

French Roots Dinner?

Cooks County restaurant?will be hosting a dinner and book signing with former Chez Panisse chef Jean Pierre Moull? and his wife, Denisse, to celebrate the recent publication of their cookbook,French Roots. Chefs Daniel Mattern and Roxana Jullapat will be cooking a menu, both prix fixe and a la carte, inspired by the book, including pissaladie?re, warm oysters in their shells with leeks and Champagne butter, grilled duck breast with black currants and cassis, Peyrault hazelnut cake and loads more. ?Signed copies of the book will be available.

Baja California Culinary Fest

Baja California Culinary Fest is teaming with the Culinary Conference Ensenada Gastronómica to present the fourth annual food festival: five days of chefs' dinners, outings, tours and culinary competition.This year's host chefs include Javier Plascencia (who created the festival), Miguel Angel Guerrero, Roberto Alcocer, Ryan Steyn, Diego Hernandez-Baquedano, Benito y Solange, Guillermo Gonzalez Beristain, Gerard Bellver, Bruno Oteiza, Martha Ortiz, Zahie Tellez, Luis Robledo Richards and Manolo Banos. Whereas in previous years, the event only took place in Tijuana, it now has expanded to Ensenada and Valle de Guadalupe. Time to head south!
