WATCH: Officer, Deputies In Shootout After Being 'Ambushed' In East L.A.

A California Highway Patrol officer and L.A. County Sheriff's Deputies were involved in a shootout after an alleged ambush in East Los Angeles, Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 9 a.m., near Third Street and Ford Boulevard after the CHP officer was driving on patrol. The officer "came under fire" according to LASD Lt. Patricia Thomas, with two suspects involved in the exchange.

Nearby LASD deputies were also involved in the shootout that resulted in one of the suspects being shot and injured, while the other suspect fled the scene.

Footage of the shootout was shared to Instagram by user @stillbrazy, showing multiple law enforcement officers engaging with the suspects as multiple shots rang out.

Alternate-angle footage showed  what appeared to be one of the suspects attempting to exit the vehicle, as law enforcement officials continued to shoot.




As of this writing, the incident is under investigation and no motive, nor description of the suspects has been made available.
