63-Year-Old Bay Point Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident near Prewett Ranch Drive

ANTIOCH, CA (October 10, 2023) - Thursday afternoon, William Marlik Jr. lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Deer Valley Road.

At approximately 2:08 p.m., local law enforcement responded to dispatch calls near Prewett Ranch Drive.

Initial findings suggest that a speeding vehicle collided with a stationary motorcycle waiting at a red light. This collision pushed both vehicles into two other cars at the intersection.

Emergency medical personnel arrived and rushed the injured motorcyclist to a nearby hospital where he later died. The victim was later identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 63-year-old William Marlik Jr. from Bay Point.

In the meantime, the driver involved remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the ongoing investigation. Officers indicate that excessive speed likely played a significant role in the accident.
