HAYWARD, CA (November 9, 2023) - Early Sunday, a solo-car accident on Winton Avenue resulted in the fatality of a 37-year-old woman and injuries to a 46-year-old man. The incident occurred around 2:14 a.m. near Magna Avenue.
Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered that the car had failed to negotiate a turn from southbound D Street to westbound Winton, leading to the vehicle losing control and colliding with a tree.
Emergency responders pronounced the female passenger dead at the scene, identifying her only as a 37-year-old resident of Richmond.
Simultaneously, paramedics transported the 46-year-old male driver to a nearby hospital, where he is currently in critical but stable condition.
The Alameda County Coroner's Office will release the deceased victim's identity once her next of kin has been notified. Authorities urge anyone with additional information regarding the crash to contact the Hayward Police at (510) 293-7066.
