Woman Found Hanging On Fire From Griffith Park Tree

An investigation is underway after a woman's body was found hanging from a tree at Griffith Park on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Fire Department recovered the body between the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round and Old L.A. Zoo.

The woman's body was reportedly on fire when first responders arrived and as of this writing, it is believed the death may have been by suicide with no signs of foul play.

LAFD said it has dealt with rare instances of self-immolation and it is believed to be the case in this incident.

As of this writing, additional details on the victim have not been released.

Video was taken on-scene by video independent journalist Vishal Singh which shows the fire department carefully making its way to the park area and using a ladder to remove the body.

On July 16, the suicide prevention hotline changed its number from 1-800-273-TALK, to simply 988.

The Suicide and Crisis Hotline can now be reached by simply dialing 988 and is available across the U.S. if you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis.
