Three Women Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Accident near Di Giorgio Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 9, 2023) - A car crash claimed the lives of Yolanda Godinez, Darli Santiago, and Gabina Santiago de Arias, early Friday morning. Around 5:40 a.m. on November 3rd, law enforcement responded to a collision at the intersection of Edison Road and Di Giorgio Road.

According to reports, a 38-year-old man was operating a red 1998 Jeep, traveling north on Edison Road. Simultaneously, a white Volkswagen was heading east. One of the drivers failed to decelerate upon entering the intersection.

Consequently, the Volkswagen driver lost control, colliding with a railroad crossing arm. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced Godinez (36), Santiago (28), and Santiago de Arias (56) deceased.

Crews also transported the Jeep driver to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. As of now, an active investigation is underway to gather more information. Further details will be provided once they become available.
