PHOENIX, AZ (December 30, 2024) – Adam Bates was fatally injured Thursday night, in a three-vehicle collision on 43rd and Northern Avenue.
Dispatchers received calls at approximately 7:00 p.m., near Northern Avenue on December 19th.
According to investigators, 46-year-old Richard McKinney was driving an SUV northbound on 43rd Avenue when he entered an intersection and collided with another vehicle.
The impact caused the second vehicle to spin and hit a third vehicle traveling southbound. A passenger in the second vehicle, later identified as 37-year-old Bates, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.
Paramedics transported three adults and one teenager to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
After completing initial investigations, authorities arrested McKinney and booked him into jail on charges that include manslaughter, aggravated assault, and endangerment. No additional details about the crash have been released at this time.
