STOCKTON, CA (January 20, 2025) – Alejo Elias Jr., Darren Hickerson, and Anissa Lawson died early Sunday morning, in a police chase crash on Airport Way.
Emergency crews received calls at approximately 1:40 a.m., near Hazelton Avenue on January 5th.
Police officers attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle driven by 28-year-old Elias Jr., but the suspect refused to comply and initiated a pursuit. Elias Jr. then collided with a vehicle carrying 61-year-old Hickerson and 52-year-old Lawson.
Authorities noted that one of the vehicles involved overturned during the crash. All three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.
Emergency crews temporarily shut down the area to manage cleanup and conduct preliminary investigations. The Stockton Police Department is overseeing the ongoing investigation.
