Angela Andrews Killed in Stop-Sign Crash on Highway 285 [Dexter, NM]

18-Year-Old Passenger Pronounced Dead after Stop-Sign Collision near East Darby Road

DEXTER, NM (August 5, 2024)Angela Andrews died early Sunday night, in a two-car accident on Highway 285.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m., near East Darby Road on July 21st.

According to officers, a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old girl with 18-year-old Andrews as a passenger was stopped at a stop sign on the eastbound lanes of Darby Road.

The teen driver then entered the intersection, colliding with a northbound vehicle. The impact trapped both teenagers inside their car.

Emergency responders extracted the occupants and airlifted them to El Paso Hospital. Andrews later succumbed to his injuries.

Additionally, the three occupants of the other vehicle, including a 5-year-old child, were taken to a local hospital. Police have ruled out alcohol as a factor, and further investigation is ongoing.
