In March, Silverstein Properties issued an
open call and ended up selecting 15 LA-based street artists/crews to paint murals in the glassed-in 72nd floor of the U.S. Bank building ? the highest tower in the city with the most opulent 360-degree view. The idea was to elevate? art and artists that inspire, and are inspired by, the city.
Asked only to express on the theme, What does LA mean to you?, the cohort riffs on flower markets and wild gardens, street vendors and sports legends, family and neighborhood, music history and graffiti writers, diverse heritage and indigenous culture, astronauts, jazz, and boba.
Silverstein Properties has previously worked with artists from all over the world to commission murals in and around several buildings at the new World Trade Center in New York City, and now they've made the walls, floor, columns, and windows of this iconic yet raw and unoccupied floor in DTLA available to the artists ? and the enterprising public, by appointment.
